Can I back up an activation after installation?
This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.
Activated LDK licenses are encapsulated into V2C files, which are saved into the following directory after activation.
Windows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel LDK\installed\109670
Linux:
/var/hasplm/installed/109670
Files may be named:
<Key ID>_base.v2c
for an original RIP activation.
<Key ID>_update<N>.v2c
for a Protection Key Update.
<Key ID>_rehost.h2h
if a license has been re-hosted to this machine.
Key ID is the Protection Key ID.
There may be additional directories within the “installed” directory; these hold V2C files for licenses for products from other vendors (109670 identifies the key as having been provided by Global Graphics).
V2C and H2H files from here may be backed up and can be used later to reactivate a RIP if a computer must be rebuilt on the same hardware and the original activation is lost; see How can I reinstall and reactivate a RIP on the same hardware?
Altering the files in this directory (including moving, renaming, or deleting them) may prevent LDK from seeing the license that they provide and therefore stop the RIP from running.
It is very important that the base V2C file and all update V2C files are backed up and that all are restored. Restoring an incomplete set may lead to loss of some or all of your licensed features.
