How do I activate a hard lock against a dongle?

This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.

The same LDK Tool used for activating soft locks and VM locks is used to activate a hard lock against a dongle.

Global Graphics specifically differentiates hard locks from the other forms; the tool does not allow a hard-lock license to be locked against the computer hardware, or a soft or VM lock to be locked against a dongle. This is to avoid the potential for a user to insert a dongle incorrectly and accidentally, and unknowingly to activate a hard lock against the computer.

  1. Install the LDK runtime and insert the HL dongle into a USB port on a computer with internet access. This does not need to be the computer on which the RIP is run.
  2. Start the LDK Tool, click More and select the Program Key.
  3. Enter the Product Key in the same way as is done for a soft lock; click OK.

The license is activated and the resulting activated license is written into the dongle itself.

       4. If required, you can now move the dongle to the computer on which the RIP is run.
