How do I convert a time-limited license to a perpetual one?
This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.
Use a Protection Key Update to convert a time-limited license to a perpetual license. This allows, for example, a pre-sales evaluation to be converted to a production license. (For example: If the user has installed encrypted fonts that are tied to the RIP serial number, they would then continue to work correctly.)
Ensure that only the appropriate selection of additional options supplied with the original evaluation license are converted to perpetual as well. If you’ve provided any of your own components with the time-limited license using your own security (for example, based on the RIP serial number), you must ensure that those do not accidentally convert to perpetual licenses with the RIP if you don’t want them to).
TBYB RIP licenses issued by Global Graphics set the usage time on all associated options to the shorter of the duration of the RIP itself or the requested period; using a PKU to convert the RIP license to perpetual does not automatically extend all those options as well.
