OPI procset and file formats

This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.

The HqnOPI procset is provided to support OPI image replacement. The normal way of enabling OPI support in GUI versions of the Harlequin RIP is to use the Image replacement page feature.

The HqnOPI procset operates in two phases: data collection and image replacement. Either or both phases may be used.

The HqnOPI procset supports high resolution files in the following formats:

  • EPS
This category includes PC format EPS files as described in section H.5.2 of the [RB2] or in section 5.2 of [ATN-EPSF3.0]; and duotone, monotone, tritone, and quadtone EPS files created by Adobe Photoshop. It also includes Desktop Color Separation (DCS) version 1 and version 2 main files, which, in turn, brings in the DCS separation files if the DCS handling procset is loaded as well, as described in DCS (Desktop color separation).
  • TIFF 6.0 (CMYK, RGB, Grayscale, and Bitmap)
Grayscale and Bitmap TIFFs may have a process or spot color assigned to them from within the creating application. The Harlequin RIP will apply these color assignments.
  • JPEG (both JFIF and files stored as JPEG from Adobe Photoshop)
  • PDF, BMP, and PNG
