The All separation and separation omission
This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.
The handling of jobs containing the /All
separation is special and perhaps non-obvious. There are two cases:
- If no colorants apart from
All
,SuperBlacks
objects, orRegisterMarks
objects are detected, and a black separation exists, those objects are transferred to the black separation and only black is output. (SuperBlacks
andRegisterMarks
are defined in Ignore in SeparationDetails.) - If there are other colors used, and
RegisterMarks
orSuperBlacks
are set, then those classes of object are ignored. GenuineAll
separations are included in these ignored objects. (To understand this, think ofAll
as a subset or special case ofRegisterMarks
, which itself is a subset ofSuperBlacks
if there is a black separation).
The RIP renders SuperBlacks
or RegisterMarks
objects only in the planes in which they were marked, and does not transfer the objects to the All
separation.
