The plugin directory structure

This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; and to Harlequin MultiRIP but not Harlequin Core

Plugins may be made up of a number of files, including the executable. These files can be grouped together in their own directory hierarchy that can be placed below the SW directory of the RIP. Additional files can be placed there by the plugin developer for other purposes, for example, distribution or data files for a plugin.

Plugin executables are identified by the RIP by scanning various directories:

SW/Devices

for output plugins.

SW/Inputs

for input plugins

SW/Extensions/PSDev

for PostScript Device plugins

SW/Extensions/CoreModule

for core module plugins providing screening or color management functionality. Create the directories as required.

Directories found there are scanned for plugin executables which are loaded. On

Windows systems, plugins have a .i32 or .i64 suffix. See Compilation and linking for full details.

The sub-sections of this page give details about the plugin directory and its contents.
