(v13) Digital filter kernels and band sizes

This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP

There is a common requirement be able to vary the band size to suit the kernel size of digital filters within Screening modules.

However, the control of the number of scanlines in a band will probably be made a RIP configuration item, for the express benefit of OEMs, making the band size nonnegotiable.

The assumption this section makes is that the responsibility for ensuring the band size chosen is suitable for the requirements of any screening modules used lies with the OEM configuring the RIP. To support this, screening modules may have to employ latency to access scanlines crossing band boundaries where the filter kernel sizes and band boundaries to dot coincide.
