(v13) Generalizing the page device
This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.
As well as the obvious requirements for product-specific keys in the page device, some additional functions of the page device are implemented in the core-RIP in highly general ways.
The RIP provides some additional keys as standard in its page device. For example, Exposure
is such a common requirement on imagesetters that it is provided as standard. Other such extensions are listed in (v13) Miscellaneous page device extensions.
However, you often want to add your own keys for two purposes:
- To affect the behavior or properties of the
%pagebuffer%
device or plugin and therefor the printer. (This is discussed further in (v13) Adding custom page device keys). - To add to the media matching and selection algorithm (see (v13) Extending media selection).
