(v13) Object types
This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.
The four object types are:
Picture
This includes most PostScript language images, or equivalent in other PDLs, but see note below.
Text
Glyphs defined by a font description. However, it does not include text outlines that may be used to paint another object; such text outlines are treated as though they are just a mask for the actual object type.
Vignette
This includes PostScript language shaded fills and equivalents in PDF.
Other
All PostScript language vector graphics (linework): fills, strokes, image masks, and equivalent in other PDLs.
In some contexts, a Default object type may be used to designate the object types not otherwise specified.
The object type of some images can be controlled using setmiscobjectmappings
(see (v13) The setmiscobjectmappings operator). They include 1-bit images and 1-pixel-high images, which are commonly treated in the graphic arts as though they are Other and Vignette objects, respectively.
