If you are seeing that a Type 2 shading pattern in a file is overprinting when according to Acrobat it should be knocking out, which could occur when an object on the pattern dl has an ambiguous overprint state, you can use:

<< /PatternOverprintOverride true >> setuserparams

This setting allows the overprint settings for pattern dl to be taken from each patterned object rather than using the overprint setting currently in force when the pattern is defined. It also means that the RIP may have to create more than one pattern dl to handle multiple overprint settings.

This should be used within a page feature or (for example) in SW/sys/ExtraStart
