(v13) PDF/X Initial Settings
This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP
Normally, the state of the RIP at the time of starting a job is determined by the combination of RIP startup and job startup configurations. Some specific statements in the PDF specification concerning initial conditions are ignored. In particular, the initial overprint settings are determined by the RIP configuration and not initialized to the defaults in the PDF specification.
When the RIP is running a PDF/X file in PDF/X mode, the overprint settings are set to the defaults from the PDF specification, which overrides the settings in the RIP configuration. The userparams affected and their initial settings are:
OverprintProcess false IgnoreOverprintMode false OverprintBlack false
OverprintGray false OverprintGrayImages false OverprintWhite true
and the affected gstate attribute:
OPM (overprint mode) 0
If any of the userparams have a value that is different to the PDF defaults, a warning is issued on the standard output device.
