(v13) Plugin parameters
This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; and to Harlequin MultiRIP but not Harlequin Core.
Devices can have plugin parameters, which a PostScript language job or a user of the RIP can use to control the characteristics or behavior of the plugin. This section summarizes the way in which the parameters appear in a pagebuffer
file. For a more detailed description of plugin parameters, see Harlequin Plugin Kit: Guide for OEMs.
If a device has plugin parameters, then there is a dictionary containing those parameters. In versions of the header in the range 10 through 11, the parameters dictionary occurs within the PGB
dictionary and has the name OutputDeviceParameters
.
Because the parameters are specific to individual plugins, it is not possible to give a definitive list here, only to comment on the structure and general principles. Detailed knowledge of the plugin is required to interpret the parameters.
For an example of a pagebuffer
header of version 11, the end of the full header example is repeated here:
...
/OutputDeviceParameters
<<
/TestColorGen (Monochrome)
>>
>>
If the device does support parameters then the defaults are listed in a file named for the relevant plugin. For example:
SW/Config/Devices/DevPrefs/plugin_name
Values are typically derived from settings in the dialog box displayed when the user clicks the Configure Device
button in either the Page Setup dialog box or the Info dialog box accessed from the Output Controller. See Harlequin Plugin Kit: Guide for OEMs for more information about how plugins set up their own parameters.
