What do I need to know?

This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.

This document is important for you if you are shipping Harlequin Core (HHR) and using LDK security. If you are using “LE” this document does not apply.

LDK allows Global Graphics to provide you with flexible licensing options, including:

  • The ability to secure RIPs without dongles. You can use dongles with LDK, but that negates many of the advantages of using LDK.
  • More robust security under virtual machines (but note that VM cluster solutions are not yet supported).
  • More robust network licenses (for example, for use in rack-mounts for digital front ends for digital presses).
  • A move towards 24/7 online license ordering and delivery.

Your sales, ordering, fulfillment, installation, support, development, and accounting departments all need to understand at least some information around the new security. This document is designed to set out the information that you need.

The top-level sections of this document divide the data into blocks appropriate for various roles within your organization: most people should read “General information” (below), and then choose the additional sections as required. The bulk of any technical information has deliberately been restricted to the sections for Support FAQ and Development.

This document does not address the details of commercial arrangements, including pricing, bulk orders, and so on. Any questions you may have on those issues should be discussed with your account manager.
