What is the RIP serial number?

This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.

Each RIP license has a defined RIP serial number, a third ID alongside the Product Key, and Protection Key ID (see Can I run multiple RIPs from a single license? for an explanation of why it needs to be separate).

Global Graphics does not use the RIP serial number directly for anything when an LDK license is used. It is provided for PostScript Language conformance and to enable third-party components to continue to be secured against it.

LDK RIP serial numbers for production RIPs are normally unique integers, starting at 300,000. Global Graphics allocates serial numbers sequentially; different number ranges are used for demo, watermark, and LLV RIPs.
