Recommended PC Specifications

Overview

The hardware requirements will depend on the type of job and the image size, below are some details that should give good results in a variety of typical cases.

SmartDFE

SPC can take on roles including proofing and RIPAhead, as a result if these features are likely to be used consider a more powerful PC. Memory should also be considered, if larger memory is required in the RIPServer, the same memory requirements will be required for the SPC machine to perform RIPAhead.

System Requirements

• Antivirus

  • Antivirus is a decision for the implementor. Recommend no antivirus since it can impact performance.

• Firewalls and Ports

  • Firewalls are a decision for the implementor. Communication between SPC and RIPServer is done using a folder shared on the RIPServer PC and a few ports, if a firewall is used those ports should be open for traffic.

• File Sharing

  • The RIPServer must have a folder shared that is read/write available to the SPC PC.

• Time synchronization

  • There is no requirement for time synchronization, but having the SPC and RIPServer PCs time synchronized greatly simplifies log analysis.

RIPServer Typical Requirements

• Disk Storage

  • Sufficient to store output rasters if sending to file.

• RAM size

  • 128GB DDR5 recommended

• CPU cores (min/recommended)

  • i9 (24 cores)
