Conventions used in the Harlequin Extensions Manual

This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.

All conventions are explained as they are first used. Some widely used conventions follow:

[BPC]

This notation, the use of square brackets—[ ]—around an abbreviation, indicates a reference to a document listed in Bibliography.

Font conventions

• Text written in this sans-serif bold face represents a menu title, a menu item, or a control item in a Harlequin MultiRIP dialog box.
• Text written in this typewriter face represents a piece of PostScript-language code, a file name, or text displayed by the Harlequin RIP.
• If something is written in italic, it is the first mention of an important concept, a variable in a PostScript-language construct, or conveys an emphasis to the reader (generally in instructions such as must or must not). Concepts and variables are explained in the text closely following their first appearance.

Notes

Text within a Note is important and should be read carefully. A Note is often a suggestion that may save you work, improve performance, or improve the quality of output.

Like a Note, text within a Warning is important and often indicates the need for care to avoid loss of files or settings.
