How do I activate a soft lock or VM lock?

This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.

These instructions apply to using the RIP installer as provided by Global Graphics. If you provide your own installer, see Do I need to do anything in my own installer to support LDK?, which sets out what you need to do in your own code.

When activating a soft lock, you must first check that you are not running in a VM. If an attempt is made to use a soft lock in a VM, the activation fails with an explanatory error. The Product Key is not used up; you can therefore activate it on a machine without a VM.

Please use the latest version of LDKTool that you have access to when building installers and activating RIPs. Do not use a version of LDKTool that is older than the RIP you are activating.
