This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.

The setdevparams operator functions are described in [RB2]. However, this description says: “The names of I/O devices and the names and semantics of their parameters are product dependent.”

The Harlequin RIP has a small number of parameters common to all devices. The remainder depend on the device type, and device types may vary according to the version of the RIP. Certain devices and device types are always present, or likely to be present in most versions, where some parameters can usefully be listed.

The Password key need not be present in dictionary operands of setdevparams. In earlier versions, the Password key was required in all dictionary operands; it is not a device parameter. Whenever present, the Password key should have the value 0 (zero). The password value is not checked unless the system parameter SystemParamsPassword has been set.

Unrecognized parameters in a setdevparams operand dictionary are quietly ignored; they do not produce a PostScript-language error. This gives GGS extensive freedom to develop the RIP without compromising OEMs’ existing device implementations.
