Pagebuffer files

This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; and to Harlequin MultiRIP but not Harlequin Core.

A pagebuffer file consists of distinct parts. The parts are:

• The header. This contains tagged information about the page represented by the file: it is human-readable and looks like Level 2 PostScript code, but with additional restrictions in that the layout and length of the header are important.
• Tables describing the bands into which the raster is divided, and where the data for each band is located in the file. The data stored in the file may be compressed, so the location of a band cannot be obtained by simply multiplying the band number by the size of the uncompressed bands.
• The raster data itself. The data is in the appropriate format for the type of pagebuffer, screened, or compressed. The data appears last in the file and forms the largest part of the file.
