(v13) XYZ resources

This page applies to Harlequin v13.1r0 and later; both Harlequin Core and Harlequin MultiRIP.

If a named color resource uses a CIE-based ColorSpace (for example, CIEBasedABC), some care must be taken to ensure good appearance with relative rendering intents, especially for light spots and light tints.

  • The ColorSpace entry should include a RelativeWhitePoint entry (see (v13) Other CIEBased color spaces). This sets to the media white point of the media on which the spot was measured.
  • The TintTransform entry should taper to the media white on which the spot was measured. This is required to avoid artifacts when using tints of the named color.

The XYZ tint transform included with the HqnColorDatabase procset performs a linear scaling in Lab between the solid spot value and the media white.
