Installation and Licensing (Smart Workflow)

If you have version 1.4.2 or earlier, you must uninstall the previous version first.

Uninstall the Previous Version

Using the Windows cmd prompt command:

  1. Navigate to where you installed Smart Workflow (for example, \WF\).
  2. Type nucleusd.exe --stop (to stop the previous version if it's running)
  3. Type nucleusd.exe --uninstall (to remove the previous service if it's installed).
  4. Delete the installation folder.
  5. Optional: Remove the database by deleting the NiXPS folder at C:\ProgramData\NiXPS.

Deleting the NiXPS folder removes the job history and settings; to avoid losing data, rename this folder.

Install Smart Workflow

Unzipping the file

To install the latest version of Smart Workflow, copy the supplied ZIP file to the required installation folder and unzip (recommend using 7-zip).

You should be logged on to the computer with administrator privileges to Install
We recommend using 7-Zip to extract "<<InstallVersion>>>.zip" into the C:/Program Files/SWF/<Installation Version>

  •  Right-click on the zip and choose 7-Zip->Extract files... (on Windows 11, you likely need to select "Show more options" first)
  • Set "Extract to" as "C:\Program Files\" and tick "Eliminate duplication of root folder" and then hit "OK".

If you don't use 7-Zip, and extract all with the default Windows method, it will take more than an hour!

Starting Smart Workflow and Licensing

Using the Windows command (CMD):

  1. Navigate to where Smart Workflow was unzipped.
  2. Type nucleusd.exe --install --launchmongo.
  3. Hit Enter when it has finished installing Cloudflow
  4. Create PP_FILE_STORE Folder (recommended location) "C:\WF\PP_FILE_STORE"
    1. If it already exists for some reason, make sure it is empty

Smart Workflow is installed as a service and automatically restarts every time the PC is rebooted; therefore you only need to type this command once.

Licensing is enabled through a web page; navigate to the following link:  http://localhost:9090/

The landing page runs an installation workflow; you must run it at least once.

You must enter the following two items of information into the web page:

  • Your customer code (typically a two-letter country code, followed by five uppercase letters)
  • Your license number (typically a six-digit number)

    • Get your license details for Cloudflow as follows:
      • Navigate to https://packz.eu/data/index.php in a web browser, log in and view "My Licenses"
      • Note down your Customer Code and Serial that is next to your CLOUDFLOW LICENSE.

If you are connected to the internet:

Click the Download and install license button.

If you are not connected to the internet:

Click the Upload and install license file button and navigate to the folder where the supplied license file is saved.

The initial Setup Page displays (which is only needed with a clean installation):

You must update the following settings:

  1. Set up the default administrator user name and password.
  2. Choose the location of the main file store (PP_FILE_STORE). (For performance purposes, ideally the store should be on the local machine.) Enough space is provided to support several production size files.

  • The file store folder must already exist, and the name must be correct (including capitalization); if it's incorrect, the remainder of the installation fails.
  • 'PP_FILE_STORE' Folder (recommended location) "C:\WF\PP_FILE_STORE"
  • If it already exists for some reason, make sure it is empty
  • We recommend that you cut and paste the folder path from Windows Explorer into this field to ensure that it is correct.

The store folder can be anywhere but a good default location would be C:\WF\PP_FILE_STORE\.

If you're using a network mounted drive, ensure that you enter the network share (SMB) username and password to allow access from the Smart Workflow server.

3. Click Save to apply the settings, which configures the system in a minute or two.

Once configuration is complete, the default page displays:

http://127.0.0.1:9090/?home=1

Install the Smart Workflow Applications

http://localhost:9090/portal.cgi/__CloudflowApps/smart_dfe/Fundamentals/Fundamentals.html

The above landing page runs an installation workflow and must be run at least once. Even if your machine appears to work, this installs the Smart Workflow applications to the latest version.

Finally the Job Station Page displays:

Update to the Branded Version

If the installed version is branded, the set-up file location may be different and may be of the form:

http://localhost:9090/portal.cgi/__CloudflowApps/YourBRAND/Fundamentals/Fundamentals.html.

If you have problems accessing the page, please consult your OEM for set-up information.

Connecting Smart Workflow to Smart Print Controller (SPC)

For seamless operation, SPC needs to be configured with the Waiting Queue folder as the same location as the Smart Workflow output folder.

  1. Start SPC.
  2. Select the Engineer Pane.
  3. Select the Settings tab.
  4. Change the Waiting Queue folder to point to the Smart Workflow (typically this would be C:\WF\PP_FILE_STORE\smart_dfe\Resources).
